Labiaplasty (Labia Minora Reduction)

Labiaplasty for labia minora is a surgical procedure performed for large, elongated, or asymmetric labia minora to reshape the labia for aesthetic appearance functional relief.
Labiaplasty is a type of cosmetic surgery that involves reducing the size or reshaping the labia minora or labia majora, which are the folds of skin surrounding the vaginal opening. This procedure is often done for aesthetic reasons, to improve the appearance of the genitalia, but it can also be done to address functional issues such as discomfort or pain during sexual intercourse or physical activity.
The labia minora are the inner lips of the genitalia, while the labia majora are the outer lips. In some women, the labia minora may be longer or asymmetrical, causing discomfort or self-consciousness. The labia majora may also be enlarged or saggy due to aging, childbirth, or weight loss.

Ideal Candidates for Labiaplasty:

  1. Patient having pain and discomfort due to twisting and tugging of elongated labia minora during exercise or intercourse.
  2. Itching and irritation
  3. Patient concerned with their intimate are appearance and having lack of self-confidence on sexual performance.
  4. Asymmetry in labia size and shape.
  5. Tear of labia after delivery.

Anesthesia:

Labiaplasty is an outpatient procedure performed under local anaesthesia or general anaesthesia.

Duration:

Typically takes one to two hours.

Recovery Time:

After surgery patient are given 60 minutes recovery period then discharged. Patient should have a week off from work. Complete healing is achieved 4-6 weeks after the procedure.

Post-operative Advice:

  •  Keep wound clean and dry.
  • Apply topical antibiotics.
  • Swelling and bruising are common after surgery and subside gradually within few days, ice packs and bed rest can help reducing swelling.
  • Pain killers after surgery help for mild pain and discomfort
  • Avoid using tampons during recovery period
  • Usually return to work within 2-5days.
  • Sexual intercourse is allowed after 4-6weeks

The good part is that Dr. Padma was so considerate of the pain I was feeling, and tried her best that I wont feel it during the procedure or afterwards.
