Nose Reshaping

It is the 4th most common procedure in plastic surgery according to the statistics of year 2009 worldwide. It consists of improving the aesthetic appearance of the nose, while keeping the balance and proportion of the face, according to race and gender.
Nose shaping is being achieved either by reducing or increasing the size of the face, by reshaping the back, lifting and changing the tip shape, narrowing the nostrils, modifying the angle between the nose and upper lip, or correcting any deviations that have existed from it. This intervention also allows us to solve congenital, post-traumatic or even co-existing obstructive respiratory pathologies that generate functional problems.
It is very important for our patient to know that 1 in 10 patients who undergo rhinoplasty requires from the nose surgeon to do a retouch to correct some detail or some residual minor deformity due to complications.

Are You a Good Candidate?

Although rhinoplasty is a very common surgery, it is necessary to take into account who are the appropriate candidates to undergo this procedure, being the ideal patient who, regardless of sex, not satisfied with the shape and / or size of his nose, and wishes to improve the aesthetic appearance of the same, with realistic expectations and that they are in good health are the ones who can do the surgery.

Anesthesia and Surgical Times

Depending on each case and the degree of complexity of the surgery will be the duration of the surgery, although on average the surgical time is 2 hours and is performed under general anesthesia carried out by an anesthesiologist.

Incisions and Scars

In most cases the incisions are inside the nose. Through these small wound in the inner part of the nostrils, the osteocartilaginous structure of the nose is remodeled, then are closed with stitches that do not need to be removed. Through this approach, surgery do not leave any type of skin scars.
There are few cases where open rhinoplasty is performed, which imply a scar almost imperceptible at the base of the columella, being used this technique especially in the most complicated cases and reconstructive type.

Hospitalization Time

The patient is usually kept for 24 hours in hospital, or depending on how simple the case could be handled as a short-term surgery, leaving the center once the residual effects of the anesthesia have passed, typically 3-6 hours after.

Post-operative Care

The person should plan to stay in bed with the head elevated during the first day and then to rest relative, always trying to stay in semi-fowler’s position. Take the prescribed drugs as directed, eat normally according to tolerance and drink plenty of fluids.
You should not touch your nose or try to remove the splint to try to see the result, as this could spoil the surgery. Likewise, it should not be exposed to the sun for approximately six weeks, with the use of sunscreens necessary for 3 months.
While tissues heal it is recommended to avoid the use of glasses, as well as nose blowing.

Recovery Time

The patient will be able to return to their daily activities one week after the procedure, being re-evaluated between the 3rd and 4th day after surgery, at which time the tamponade is removed and the splint is readjusted to help preserve the new form of the nose. Also, maintaining the use of adhesive tapes for 3 to 4 weeks, which will be changed periodically by the patient as the inflammation decrease.
The person should avoid doing strong physical activities for 3 to 4 weeks, as these can favor bleeding or nasal traumas that affect the result, while contact sports should be avoided for at least 3 months.

Risks

As every procedure involves risks, and although this is low there is always a small possibility. Dr. Rosales always make that idea clear to the patients, although presenting complication is usually minor and is in a simple way.
Such cases are unpredictable, one of the most common complication is postoperative bleeding and to reduce its frequency of occurrence is by closely following the instructions of Dr. Rosales both before and after the procedure.

Botox injections are performed in a medical office or a cosmetic clinic. The skin is cleansed, and a local anesthetic or ice may be applied to minimize any discomfort. Using a very fine needle, Botox is injected into specific muscles in precise locations. The procedure typically takes only a few minutes, and there is minimal downtime or recovery involved.

The effects of Botox injections are not immediate but gradually appear over a few days to a week. The muscles become less active, and the wrinkles in the treated areas gradually smooth out. The results typically last around 3 to 4 months, but this can vary depending on individual factors, the dose administered, and the specific treatment area.
